What's problematic is that I'm still weak on speed. When I was a twenty-two year old Marine, I could run nine miles at an eight-minute mile pace. As a thirty-two year old graduate student, however, I find myself seriously sucking wind when I do that same nine miles at a 9:10 pace. And it's just embarrassing that I find it difficult to do four miles at an 8:15 pace.
